A Bus-Sitzbelegungssensor is a thin seat sensor mat installed inside or under a passenger seat cushion to detect whether the seat is occupied. JASPER Electronics is a custom sensor manufacturer for OEM seat projects. We build pressure-sensitive seat sensor mats for vehicle seating programs where the buyer needs a defined occupied / unoccupied signal from a passenger seat.
For bus and commercial vehicle projects, our work usually starts with the seat drawing, cushion photo, installation position, connector requirement, and target activation behavior. We then design the sensor mat shape, sensing zone, tail direction, cable protection, and production documentation around that seat.

Seat Belt Reminder Use

During development, we can adjust the mat outline, lead length, active zone, and connector detail before the buyer confirms the final sample. For bulk/OEM projects, that confirmed sample becomes the production reference.
Engineering Notes for Fleet / OEM Projects
Public transportation seats see repeated passenger use, frequent cleaning, cushion compression, and cable movement around the seat frame. A commercial vehicle seat pressure sensor should be designed with those realities in mind.
Our engineering review focuses on 5 practical points:
1. Repeated passenger use: the sensing layer should be positioned where the passenger load is expected, not at a cushion edge that receives uneven pressure. 2. Seat wear: the mat should avoid sharp frame edges, hard seams, and foam cutouts that could create concentrated stress. 3. Cable protection: the cable route should keep the lead away from hinges, brackets, slide rails, and exposed metal corners. 4. Cushion integration: the sensor should be thin enough for the intended seat stack and simple enough for the seat maker to install during assembly. 5. Sample validation: the buyer should approve the sensor with the real seat cushion before mass production.
We do not publish a single cycle-life number for every Bus-Sitzbelegungssensor because the seat structure, passenger load pattern, installation method, and cable protection all change the result. For OEM work, we prefer to validate the sample against the buyer’s actual seat design and acceptance criteria.
